The new version of the standard kitchen utensils standard integrates the testing content of the original standard and adds performance tests related to multiple coatings. The specific changes are shown in the table below:

EN 12983-2:2023 Kitchenware - Inspection of household kitchenware - General requirements for ceramic kitchenware and glass covers
The standard scope is limited to only ceramic kitchenware and glass covers
Remove handle tension test, durability test without coating, corrosion resistance test without coating, heat distribution test, and applicability test for multiple heat sources
Increase the impact resistance of ceramics
Add performance requirements for ceramic non stick coatings and easy to clean coatings
Modify the requirements for thermal shock resistance of ceramics
Compared to the old version of the kitchen utensils standard, the new standard has higher requirements for the performance of non coating and ceramic kitchen utensils. For the export of EU kitchenware, please conduct kitchenware inspection according to the latest standard requirements.
