Introduction to GOTS certification
Global Organic Textile Standard (Global Organic Textile Standard), referred to as GOTS. The Global Organic Textile GOTS Standard aims to stipulate that organic textiles must ensure their organic status throughout the entire process from their raw material harvesting, socially and environmentally responsible processing, to labeling, thereby providing trustworthy products to end consumers.
GOTS certification requirements:
Processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trade and distribution activities of textiles with an organic fiber content of not less than 70%. Anyone can apply for this certification standard.
GOTS certification type:
Raw materials, processing, manufacturing, dyeing and finishing, clothing, trading and branding of all organic and natural fiber textiles.
GOTS certification process (trader + manufacturer):
Benefits of certified GOTS:
1. More and more customers require suppliers to provide GOTS certificates, ZARA, HM, GAP, etc. Some customers will require their subordinate suppliers to provide GOTS certificates in the future, otherwise they will be excluded from the supplier system.
2. GOTS needs to review the social responsibility module. If suppliers have GOTS certificates, buyers will have more confidence in suppliers.
3. Products bearing the GOTS mark include reliable guarantees of the product’s organic origin and environmentally and socially responsible processing.
4. According to the Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL), only low-impact GOTS-approved chemical inputs that do not contain hazardous substances can be used for the processing of GOTS goods. The quality of the product is guaranteed.
5. When your company’s products pass GOTS certification, you can use GOTS labels.
