qc inspection knowledge base

In clothing inspection, measuring and verifying the dimensions of each part of the clothing is a necessary step and an important basis for determining whether the batch of clothing is qualified.

In this issue, QC Superman will take everyone to understand the basic skills in clothing inspection – clothing size measurement.

Keywords of this week: clothing inspection, size measurement

Note: The standard is based on GB/T 31907-2015

01 Measurement Tools and Requirements

01

Measurement tool: Use a tape measure or ruler with a division value of 1mm for measurement. Requirement: The finished product size measurement generally uses lighting with an illumination level of no less than 600lx. If conditions permit, Beikong Light can also be used for illumination. The finished product should be flattened and measured, with buttons (or zippers closed), skirt hooks, pants hooks, etc. fastened. For finished products that cannot be flattened, other methods can be adopted, such as folding measurement, edge measurement, etc. For finished products with pull-apart size requirements, measurements should be made to the maximum extent possible while ensuring that the stitching is not damaged and the fabric does not deform. When measuring, each dimension must be accurate to 1mm.

02 measuring method

02

Top length

Spread and measure vertically from the highest point of the front shoulder seam to the bottom edge, as shown in Figure 1;

Alternatively, flatten and measure vertically from the back collar to the bottom edge, as shown in Figure 2.

03

Skirt length

Half length skirt: Measure vertically from the upper opening of the left waist along the side seam to the bottom edge of the skirt, as shown in Figure 3;

Dress: Spread and measure vertically from the highest point of the front shoulder seam to the bottom edge of the skirt, as shown in Figure 4; Alternatively, flatten and measure vertically from the back neckline to the bottom edge of the skirt, as shown in Figure 5.

04

Trouser length

Measure vertically from the upper opening of the waist along the side seam to the hem of the pants, as shown in Figure 6.

05

Bust/Chest Circumference

Push on the button (or close the zipper), flatten the front and rear body, and measure horizontally along the bottom seam of the armhole (based on the circumference), as shown in Figure 7.

07

Waist circumference

Button up (or close the zipper), skirt hook, and pants hook, flatten the front and rear body, and measure horizontally along the waist joint or upper waist opening (based on the surrounding area), as shown in Figures 8 to 11.

10

Total shoulder width

Button up (or close the zipper), flatten the front and back of the body, and measure horizontally from the intersection of the shoulder and sleeve seams, as shown in Figure 12.

12

Collar width

Flatten the horizontal measurement of the collar collar, as shown in Figure 13;

Other collar openings, except for special collars, as shown in Figure 14.

13

Sleeve length

Measure the round sleeve from the highest point of the sleeve mount to the middle of the cuff line, as shown in Figure 15;

The raglan sleeves are measured from the middle of the back collar to the middle of the cuffline, as shown in Figure 16.

14

Hip circumference

Button up (or close the zipper), skirt hook, and pants hook, flatten the front and rear body, measure horizontally along the middle of the hip width (calculated around the circumference), as shown in Figure A.1, Figure A.5, Figure A.6, and Figure A.8.

15

Length of side seam

Spread the front and rear body flat, measure along the side seam from the bottom of the armhole to the bottom edge, as shown in Figure A.1.

Bottom hem circumference

Button up (or close the zipper), skirt hook, and pants hook, flatten the front and rear body, and measure horizontally along the bottom edge (based on the surrounding area), as shown in Figure A.1, Figure A.5, and Figure A.6.

16

Back width

Spread the sleeve seam horizontally along the narrowest part of the back of the garment, as shown in Figure A.2 and Figure A.7.

119

Armhole depth of eye

Measure vertically from the back collar to the lowest horizontal position of the armhole, as shown in Figure A.2 and Figure A.7.

Waistband Circumference

Spread horizontally along the bottom edge of the belt (calculated around the circumference). The elastic waistband should be stretched to the maximum size for measurement, as shown in Figure A.3.

012

Inside eg length

Measure from the bottom of the crotch to the hem of the pants, as shown in Figure A.8.

041

Straight crotch depth

Measure vertically from the upper opening of the waist to the bottom of the crotch, as shown in Figure A.8.

Bottom leg hem circumference

Measure horizontally along the hem of the pants, calculated around the circumference, as shown in Figure A.8.

Shoulder length

Spread and measure from the highest point of the left front shoulder seam to the intersection of the shoulder and sleeve seams, as shown in Figure A.9.

014

Deep neck drop

Measure the vertical distance between the front neckline and the back neckline, as shown in Figure A.9.

Cuff circumference

Button up (or close the zipper) and measure horizontally along the cuff line (calculated around the circumference), as shown in Figure A.9.

Sleeve fat biceps circumpreference

Measure the distance perpendicular to the middle of the sleeve at the widest point along the sleeve, passing through the intersection of the sleeve bottom seam and the armhole seam, as shown in Figure A.9.

Sleeve length

Measure from the intersection of shoulder and sleeve seams to the bottom seam of the sleeve, as shown in Figure A.9.
