UK to amend product standards for personal protective equipment (PPE) regulations
On 3 May 2022, the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy proposed changes to the designation criteria for personal protective equipment (PPE) Regulation 2016/425 products. These standards will become effective on May 21, 2022, unless this announcement is withdrawn or amended by May 21, 2022.
Modify the standard list:
(1) EN 352 – 1:2020 General requirements for hearing protectors Part 1: Earmuffs
Restriction: This standard does not require the noise attenuation level to be marked on the product.
(2) EN 352 – 2:2020 Hearing protectors – General requirements – Part 2: Earplugs
Restriction: This standard does not require the noise attenuation level to be marked on the product.
(3) EN 352 – 3:2020 Hearing protectors – General requirements – Part 3: Earmuffs attached to head and face protection devices
Restriction: This standard does not require the noise attenuation level to be marked on the product.
(4) EN 352 – 4:2020 Hearing protectors – Safety requirements – Part 4: Level-dependent earmuffs
(5) EN 352 – 5:2020 Hearing protectors – Safety requirements – Part 5: Active noise-cancelling earmuffs
(6) EN 352 – 6:2020 Hearing protectors – Safety requirements – Part 6: Earmuffs with safety-related audio input
